Hello, my name is John Donahue, I am a retired US Air Force officer, instructor, and aviator who now coaches organizations to learn more effectively. As a consultant in knowledge management, project management, and systems integration, I’ve stood up corporate social media programs, developed training programs, managed enterprise portals, and advised CEOs and general officers on how they can improve communication, collaboration and innovation in their organization.
My time in the military exposed me to many different organizations and cultures. From my service as an award winning instructor at the US Air Force Academy, a top rated university, to my operational staff tours working with officers from South Korea, Australia, Great Britain, France, and Saudi Arabia, to name just a few, I’ve learned how cultural differences can strengthen or crush an organization’s effectiveness.
Never content to simply consult, I’m a hands-on manager and leader. Probably a result of my aviation background, I’m always pushing the envelope of my skillset; continuing to take management courses after earning my masters, tinkering with my Intel Galileo (Arduino) board, building a home web server, and earning Microsoft and CompTIA IT certifications. I just want to know more about how the world and people around me work.
My free-time blends into my work time, since these are all things I enjoy, but I do break away to lift weights, write, take pictures, and ride my Harley around North Carolina. Most of all I enjoy spending time with my family. When I’m with my family it doesn’t matter what I’m doing, it’ll be the highlight of my day – probably more.
